DETROIT -- Alan Trammell and Lance Parrish will host their 13th annual Baseball Camp at Wayne State University on Dec. 2 inside the Matthaei Center and Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility.
Trammell and Parrish will each lead the position specific morning session (grades 2-12) on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. as well as the Winning Offense Camp (Grades 2-12) from 2:30 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. These two MLB greats will join the entire WSU baseball program including coaching staff, student-athletes and support staff to serve as camp instructors.
"We have reached an exciting 13th year with this camp experience and are thrilled to welcome participants for another baseball developmental day!" said head coach
Ryan Kelley. "This presents a unique opportunity to interact and learn with one of the game's all-time great shortstops and a catcher who was a dynamic Major League all-star. The enthusiasm and motivation that is displayed annually by Alan Trammell and Lance Parrish to give back to the next generation of baseball is inspiring. Our program and I would like to thank them and WSU alum Mr. S. Gary Spicer, Sr. for their continued commitment with this camp experience. This event will assist participants with a foundation for baseball education and development."
Camp sessions will focus on education, implementation, repetition and evaluation. Players will receive a quality volume of reps in a fun and energetic atmosphere.
The schedule on Saturday, Dec. 2 features an Alan Trammell Infield Camp from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The clinic will be open for grades 2-12. Participants will be teamed by age throughout the camp curriculum. Alan Trammell will lead this advanced infield specific camp with detailed instruction, drill sets, training and a philosophy geared at infield development. If you are looking to improve at the infield position and lead your team in 2024, this is the camp for you! The cost is $100.
Concurrently, the Lance Parrish Catching Camp will also be from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Parrish will direct this detailed catching camp to assist with your progression behind the plate. This camp will prove to be the ultimate off-season preparation for your catching development. An advanced series of catching drills, position education, training and a winning mentality will be delivered from the former perennial all-star Major League catcher. This portion of the clinic is also open to grades 2-12 and the cost is $100. The camp is open to any participants within this age range.
Saturday afternoon's Winning Offense session will feature higher level tools to enhance your success with a focus on what it takes to perform offensively at the next level. Focus will be placed on skill development in the batter's box, on the bases and mental concepts of hitting. Additionally, participants will work on speed and agility drill sets, strength and conditioning education, with classroom content for approach and mechanics.
Saturday's morning and afternoon events are open to grades 2-12 and cost $100 per person per session. There is a $180 price point for those who attend both Saturday sessions. Participants will receive a camp t-shirt. Registration can be completed online. Questions can be directed to the WSU baseball office at 313-577-2749 or ryankelley@wayne.edu
