DETROIT -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (9-13 overall, 4-7 GLIAC) pushed its winning streak to season-long four matches on Saturday afternoon after taking down Michigan Tech (10-12 overall, 6-5 GLIAC) in a five-set thriller.

COACH KOTH
"It was a gutsy effort by the Warriors today against a very good team from Michigan Tech.  We had to earn every point and to our credit, we did.  We were led by Kayla Giroux who had an outstanding performance."

HOW IT HAPPENED (-21, -18, 19-25, 21-25, -11)
- Just like Friday night, Wayne State came out of the gates hot taking the first two sets to go up 2-0 in the match.
- The Warriors hit .290 in the first on Saturday thanks to 15 kills and six errors on 31 total attacks.
- As good as they were in the opening stanza, they built on that by hitting .407 in the next period with 14 kills and only three errors on 27 swings.
- WSU trailed MTU by five to start, 18-13, before scoring 12 of the next 15 points to come back and win.
- In the second, the home team faced another deficit, this time it was 6-0.
- The Warriors responded with a 15-4 spurt to lead by five, 15-10.
- After that, the Huskies could never get closer than three, 15-12 and 16-13.
- Michigan Tech hit a match-best .371 in the third before a .303 clip in the fourth.
- With the Huskies carrying all of the momentum to the fifth, the Warriors punched back with a match-high .471 hitting percentage in the fifth.
- The fifth and final period was tied four times before Wayne State took the lead (6-5) for good.
