SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (5-11 overall, 2-6 GLIAC) was on the road again on Friday night, this time to take on Lake Superior State (4-12 overall, 3-5 GLIAC). The Lakers defeated the Warriors in straight sets inside the James Norris Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED (17-25, 17-25, 21-25)
- Lake Superior State opened the match with seven of the first eight total points and eight of the initial 11.
- Wayne State cut the deficit to one on four different occasions, the final being 17-16, before the Lakers ended the set with eight of the final nine scores.
- The hosts carried that momentum into the second period where they led by as many as 15, 19-4.
- The Warriors mounted a comeback to pull within seven, 24-17, before the home team notched the final point to seal the set.
- Aside from a lone tie at 3-3, LSSU led the third stanza wire to wire, including a six-point advantage at 15-9.

- Wayne State was held to just 27 kills for the match, tied for the season low.
