ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (5-12 overall, 2-7 GLIAC) fell to Grand Valley State (14-1 overall, 8-1 GLIAC) on Saturday afternoon inside GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED (12-25, 11-25, 20-25)
- Grand Valley State hit at least .409 in each of the three sets, including .419, .409 and .472.
- Wayne State's best offensive clip came in the third stanza at .281.
- The Warriors trailed by just one, 8-7, in the opening period, before the Lakers scored 17 of the next 22 points.
- In the second set, the visitors notched the first point before the home team rattled off the next nine in a row and 14 of the next 17.
- WSU pulled within eight (14-6, 15-7, 16-8), but no closer.
- The away team came out swinging in the third with a 6-2 spurt to start it.
- Wayne State held that lead until 9-7, before Grand Valley State punched back with 11 of the next 14 points to go up by six, 18-12.
- The Warriors cut the margin to four on three different occasions (21-17, 22-18, 24-20), but the Lakers finished it off.

Wayne State will take a break from league play for the annual Midwest Region Crossover in Hammond, Ind. at the Hammond Sportsplex. The Warriors' three opponents will be unveiled early next week before matches start on Friday.
