Two Throwers Make WSU Debut At GVSU Holiday Open

Hansen and Stewart represent the Green and Gold.

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Two Wayne State University throwers competed in their first meet as Warriors on Friday afternoon at the GVSU Holiday Open.

Freshman Makayla Stewart (Novi, Mich.) participated in both throwing events finishing 14th in the shot put (10.36m) and 31st in the weight throw (10.28m).

In addition, graduate student Kaleigh Flowers (Grand Rapids, Mich. / East Kentwood) competed unattached in the weight throw Invite section where she finished eighth (16.88m).

Junior Payton Hansen (Freeland, Mich.), a transfer from Siena Heights, placed 27th in the shot put with a best toss of 7.50m.

The WSU women's indoor track and field squad will begin 2024 at the Findlay Alumni Classic on Saturday, January 20th.
