Gordon Selected GLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week

DETROIT -- Wayne State University graduate student Emily Gordon has been selected GLIAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career (she has twice been Indoor Track Athlete of the Week - once in 2025 and once in 2026).

Gordon broke the WSU outdoor 800m record which had stood for seven years by running an NCAA Provisional time of 2:10.72 to take first place at the Oakland Golden Grizzlies Invite.  The previous mark of 2:11.66 was set by Jackie Feist in 2019.  Gordon's previous best for outdoor 800m was 2:12.45 set at the 2024 Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational.

She also posted the fifth-fastest 400m dash time in program history, clocking in at 57.68 to finish third on Saturday.

Wayne State will be competing this Friday and Saturday at the GVSU Al Owens Classic.
