Four All-Time Top 10 Marks Highlight Competition in Texas

Eight different Wayne State outdoor track and field student-athletes competed on Friday in Texas, including one - senior Makayla Sumrall (Roseville, Mich.) - who ran a race at two different meets.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Both Sumrall and the 4x400m Relay quartet competed on Friday at the Texas Relays. Sumrall clocked in a time of 12.01 in the timed final to finish 63rd. The relay contingent of freshman Elyse Miller (Woodhaven, Mich. / Gibraltar Carlson), sophomore Renae Kutcha (Jackson, Mich. / Lumen Christi), freshman Avery Wilson (Davison, Mich.) and sophomore Makenzie Wellner (Menominee, Mich.) placed 15th with the fifth-fastest time in program history of 3:53.97.

SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Redshirt senior thrower Izzy Taylor (Three Rivers, Mich.) posted the fifth-best outdoor shot put mark of 12.44m (40-09.75) Friday morning at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational. This came a day after Taylor's sixth-best toss in school history in the javelin.

Sumrall finished 38th in the 200m dash in a time of 24.90.

Sophomore Emily Gordon (Northville, Mich.) competed in two races at the TSU meet. She placed eighth in the 800m run in a time of 2:14.20, which ranks third all-time at WSU, then she placed 21st in the 1500m race (4:59.05).

Freshman Rachel Felstow (Leonard, Mich. / Romeo) finished 24th in the 800m event crossing the finish line is 2:21.89, a time which ranks eighth in program history.

UP NEXT
Approximately six individuals and two relays will be competing at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational on Saturday, April 1st.
