AUGUSTA, Mich. -- Facing off against Saginaw Valley State in the GLIAC Championships' Medal Match Play semifinals, the Wayne State University women's golf team came up short against the Cardinals. SVSU won three of the five matchups, the two squads tied a fourth and WSU's Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain / Colegio Base) won the fifth.

As a team, the Warriors shot a 302 (fifth-highest mark of the season), including a one-under 71 from Vestman, three-over 75 from Sabel Imesch (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South), five-over 77 from Avery Howard (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer), and seven-over 79 from Maisarah Hezri (Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia). Wayne State's fifth golfer, Orianna Bylsma (Montague, Mich. / Montague) carded a 14-over 86.

Wayne State now turns its attention to the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, May 1. Picked seventh for the East Region in the most-recent rankings, the top 15 squads will qualify and play on May 8-10 in Springfield, Ill. (Panther Creek Country Club) for one of four NCAA Regionals.
