Women's Golf Finishes Round Two At NCAA Championships

Bylsma leads the Warriors with a 78.

EUREKA, Mo. -- The Wayne State University women's golf squad produced a team score of 318 during the second round of the NCAA Championships at Fox Run Golf Club.

The Warriors are 18th in the 18 team field with a two-day total of 632.

All of the top eight teams after 36 holes are currently ranked in the top 10 nationally by Golfstat.  No. 2-ranked Dallas Baptist (+4) leads the field, and is followed by fourth-ranked Findlay (+7), third-ranked Nova Southeastern (+10), top-ranked Lynn (+15), and fifth-ranked Anderson (+16) round out the top five.

The six through eight spots are held by 10th-ranked UIndy (+17), seventh-ranked West Texas A&M (+18), and ninth-ranked Cal State-San Marcos (+20).

After the conclusion of Thursday's round, the top eight teams will advance to Medal Match play on Friday.

Freshman Orianna Bylsma (Montague, Mich.) rebounded from a tough opening round to lead WSU on day two with a +6 (78) for a 36-hole score of 172.  Bylsma had two birdies, four bogeys, two double bogeys and 10 pars in her Wednesday round

Freshman Maisarah Hezri (Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia) turned in another solid round on Wednesday with a +7 (79) for a two-day total of 157.  Her second round included two birdies, five bogeys, two double bogeys and nine pars.

Sabel Imesch (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South), Wayne State's third freshman on the travel roster, carded an 80 (+8).  The rookie posted 10 pars, one birdie, five bogeys and two double bogeys, and has a two-round total of 161.

Junior Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain) carded a second round +9 (81).  Vestman's round included eight pars, one birdie, eight bogeys, and one double bogey.  She leads WSU with a 153 after 36 holes.

Senior Avery Howard (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer) posted a +10 (82) on Wednesday for a two-day total of 165.  Her second included seven pars, one birdie, nine bogeys and one double bogey.

UP NEXT
WSU will be paired with Tiffin and Augustana for the final day of stroke play at the NCAA Championships.  The first trio tees off at 8:30 a.m. Central time on Thursday.
