SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Through 36 of 54 holes at the NCAA East Regional, the Wayne State University women's golf team remained in third place after shooting a 301 (+13) on day two. Individually,
Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain / Colegio Base) is by herself in second place as she carded a 71 on Tuesday to put her overall score at a three-under 141.
Sabel Imesch (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) joins Vestman in the top 10 as she's part of the five-way for 10th at 148 (+4) after a six-over 78 in round two.
Avery Howard (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer) shot a three-over 75 on Tuesday, is up five spots in the standings and also among the top 25 for the Warriors in a tie-for-26th with a nine-over 153.
Rounding out those competing for Wayne State are
Maisarah Hezri (Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia / Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Ibrahim) in a tie-for-24th with an eight-over 152 (77 in round two) and
Orianna Bylsma (Montague, Mich. / Montague) in a tie-for-49th with a 17-over 161 (83 in round two).
The 15 squads will play 18 more holes on Wednesday with the course lengthening a bit from 6,114 yards to 6,137 yards.
After that third round of play, the top three (central), five (south), four (west), and six (east) teams, along with the top two individuals not on an advancing team, will advance to the finals.
