Ramirez Named D2CCA Honorable Mention All-American

Ramirez is the program's seventh All-American under head coach, Ryan Kelley.

D2CCA -- Rudy Ramirez (Brighton, Mich.), left fielder of the Wayne State University baseball team, has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).  Ramirez is the program's seventh All-American under head coach, Ryan Kelley, joining Anthony Bass (2008), Adam Kaminski (2008), Michael Wiseman (2011), Andrew Ciennik (2012), Hunter Brown (2019), and Ryan Korolden (2022).

Ramirez, the 2023 GLIAC Player of the Year, started all 55 of Wayne State's games in left field and finished with a .377 batting average (75-for-199).  That clip was good for second in the league while his .423 conference average (47-for-111) was the best.  The six-foot slugger also finished first in the league in hits, first in doubles (20), first in total bases (121), second in runs scored (59), second in RBI (60), second in slugging percentage (.608), fourth in triples (4), fourth in on-base percentage (.451), sixth in stolen bases (15), ninth in home runs (6), and ninth in walks (28).

The Brighton, Mich. native paced the team in multi-hit games (25) and recorded the longest hitting streak of any Warrior with a base knock in 12 straight from April 15-30.  He hit .447 (21-for-47) during that 12-game hitting streak with seven multi-hit games, a pair of three-hit contests, 12 runs scored, two home runs, seven stolen bases (four on April 29 vs. Parkside), and 17 driven in.  He also finished second on the squad in multi-RBI games (14) and notched the longest reached-base streak on the team at 29 straight from Feb. 26-April 14.
