DETROIT -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (3-6 overall, 0-1 GLIAC) welcomed No. 24 Ferris State (6-3 overall, 1-0 GLIAC) into the Matthaei Center on Thursday night to open both the home and league schedules. The Warriors led the Bulldogs two sets to one, however the visitors then took periods four and five to spoil it for the home team.

HOW IT HAPPENED (13-25, -18, -21, 14-25, 7-15)
- Ferris State got just the start it wanted hitting .524 (11 kills, 0 errors, 21 total attacks) to Wayne State's .107.
- In that set, the Warriors were never able to put a run together scoring back-to-back points four times, but never a third in a row.
- WSU punched back in the second and third periods, though.
- In that second stanza, the home team ended it with a 13-4 spurt, and led the third by as many as six (14-8, 15-9).
- In the fourth, the visitors rattled off 14 of the first 20 total points for a 14-6 advantage.
- After that, the closest the hosts could get was six (15-9, 16-10, 17-11).
- Ferris State was eager to put the match away in the fifth and deciding set with 14 of the first 19 scores.
- Wayne State responded with back-to-back points to stay alive before the Bulldogs sealed it in the end.
LEADING THE WARRIORS
- A pair of Warriors reached the double-digit kill mark, including
Molly Miller (Oxford, Mich.) with 13 and
Ella Uganski (Jenison, Mich.) with 11 on a .269 hitting percentage.

Katie Smith (Macomb, Mich. / Utica Eisenhower) and
Kayla Giroux (Flat Rock, Mich.) added nine kills and eight kills, respectively.
- Also on offense,
Kayla Dulgar (Warsaw, Ohio / River View) finished with 37 assists and
Carly Rodman (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) notched three of Wayne State's nine service aces.
- Dulgar and
Maya Wegand (Kaukauna, Wis. / Little Chute) each tallied a pair of aces as well.
- Defensively, Dulgar took care of business with 16 digs for her third double-double of the season.

Kendyl Andrews (Flushing, Mich.) paced the dig department with 21 to go with Smith's 10.
- Above the net, Dulgar, Uganski and Giroux blocked two attacks apiece.
ONE BIG THING
- Ferris State hit .229 (53 kills, 18 errors, 153 total attacks) to Wayne State's .068 (45 kills, 34 errors, 161 total attacks) for the night.
