DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team welcomed in Oakland to the Matthaei Natatorium on Saturday for Senior Day 2024. OU bested WSU by a score of 146-95.
"Today was a celebration of a wonderful senior class as we were able to celebrate and recognize 16 amazing senior student-athletes," said head coach
Sean Peters. "Within this group, we had NCAA All-Americans, GLIAC Champions, Academic All-Americans, GLIAC Commissioner's Award winners, GLIAC All-Academic honorees and members of our SAAC. These are amazing leaders and I am very proud to see them enjoy their final meet at the Matthaei.
We never really use the tech suits for dual meets, but today, with OU's distance group, we wore them for the 1650 free. We then saw both Alli Vassilakos and
Trevor Jones set pool records in those events, and Jordan Fox might possibly qualify for NCAA's with today's performance. We also had some big swims and amazing performances on diving, which is never easy against OU. I was very proud of our team, our parents, our fans and our amazing seniors!"
