DETROIT -- Both of the Wayne State University swimming & diving teams will be home at the same time this Friday for the first instance this season. The Warriors will host Davenport at 5 p.m. inside the Matthaei Natatorium for either program's first GLIAC dual of the 2024-25 campaign.
"I'm excited to see what we do this Friday with Davenport coming to the Matthaei," said head coach
Sean Peters. "Last season, the Panthers had a few NCAA qualifiers with the men and women, and will be a very strong matchup for us. Last weekend, they swam very fast, and I know it will be a fun and fast meet here in the D!"
Friday's date against Davenport is the first of four this season in which Wayne State will face a league foe. The other three being Saturday, Nov. 9 against Northern Michigan at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4 vs. Saginaw Valley State at 1 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 11 at Grand Valley State at 1 p.m.
Aside from Wayne State's Alumni Meet on Friday, Nov. 1, this competition against Davenport will be the Warriors' only event until the Nov. 9 tri-meet with Northern Michigan and Findlay inside the Matthaei. WSU has had great success in head-to-head meetings with DU, as can be seen below.
