DETROIT -- The Wayne State men's tennis team finished the 2024 fall season as they hosted the Second Annual Mike Kneale Memorial Doubles Tournament at the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility. The Warriors competed against the Findlay Oilers and the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils.
Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany) and
George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom) won the main draw, defeating Soh Kuyama and Dallas Ramsey of Findlay in the tournament finals. This victory marks Denth's 105th doubles win in his career, setting the all-time record for doubles wins in a career for the Green and Gold. The previous record was held by current graduate assistant coach,
Daniel Grey (Wiesbaden, Germany) with 104. Along with being the record holder in doubles, Drenth has claimed victory in 92 singles matches, which is 12 shy of the record (104) set by Niklas Karcz in 2023.
In addition to Drenth's historic day, sophomore walk-on,
Cole Anderson (Novi, Mich.) earned his fist career win with the Warriors, as he and his partner

FROM HEAD COACH BRYAN MORROW
"A successful day for the warriors.
Cedric Drenth becoming the all-time wins leader in doubles and doing so in style. He and George (Day) just got better with every match today. By the end of the championship match, it was probably the best doubles I've seen the two of them play together. Very clean and very solid. We did some mixing of teams and combinations, and as the day went on the Warriors kept getting better and better. I was happy with how the day ended, we started a bit slow but made up for it toward the end, so I am very proud of the boys. This is our last competition of the fall, so I am glad that we could have it as the Mike Kneale Tournament. Mike was a great guy to have this for."
