Mancini's Second Place Highlights Women's Fencing on Final Day of Conference Championships

All nine Warriors on the roster saw action on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Wayne State University women's fencing team finished its weekend at the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) Championships with the individual competition on Sunday inside French Field House.

The day was highlighted by sophomore Ludovica Mancini's (Rome, Lazio, Italy) second-place finish in the Senior Women's Foil.  That was the best finishing result by any Warrior women's fencer.

Competitors in each of the three categories fenced in an initial pool round, which consisted of the entire field of participants.  The top section from the first pool advanced to the second pool, where the top eight qualified for the direct elimination table.

The top eight from each weapon received individual recognitions for their performance, of which three Warriors garnered the accomplishment.
