GLIAC -- Griffin Kilander (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) was named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time in his career and first time this season, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Thursday in Wayne State's 4-0 victory over Purdue Northwest in Auburndale, Fla., Kilander notched his second career complete game and didn't surrender a hit until one out had been recorded in the eighth inning. The junior hurler struck out 14 Pride batters, tied for the most by a Warrior pitcher in the last 23 years. Kilander faced just one batter over the minimum and didn't walk a single batter. That effort lowered his season ERA to 2.63 as he improved to 4-0 this spring.
Kilander and his teammates (11-6 overall) will open GLIAC play on Saturday at 2 p.m. with a neutral doubleheader against Davenport in Hammond, Ind.
