GLIAC -- Sophomore
Bennett Hitzelberger (Richmond, Mich.) of the Wayne State University baseball team was named GLIAC Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday, both of which have come in 2024.
Last week, Hitzelberger hit .500 (7-for-14) in Wayne State's 4-0 stretch to begin GLIAC play. The first baseman notched five runs, one double, six RBI, two walks, no strikeouts and a stolen base. Hitzelberger turned in an on-base percentage of .588 while slugging .571.
So far this spring, the left-hander ranks first in the conference in doubles (9), third in hits (31), fourth in batting average at .413 (31-for-75), fourth in runs scored (20), fourth in total bases (43) and fifth in walks (13). He and his teammates will next be in action on Wednesday at Saginaw Valley State at 3 p.m.
