Women's Track And Field Signs Four For 2025-26

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's track and field squad, under the direction of eighth-year head coach Grant Lofdahl, has signed four student-athletes for the 2025-26 academic year.  On coach Lofdahl's staff is associate head coach Nate Miller and throws coach Celine Freeman-Gibb as well as graduate assistant (distance) coach Samantha Miller.

Joining the Warriors this fall will be jumpers Sohanny Gonzalez (Wyoming, Mich.), Teagan Kimble (Mattawan, Mich.) and Sophie Pell (Olivet, Mich.), and thrower Jaeda Tilton (Chesterfield, Mich. / Anchor Bay).

Sohanny Gonzalez, 5-9, Jumps, Wyoming, Mich. / Wyoming Potter's House Christian
High School:
 Will be a 2025 graduate of Wyoming Potter's House Christian High School ... will be a four-year track letterwinner for the Pumas and coach Kristopher Koster ... competed at the 2022 MHSAA Division 4 state finals in the long jump placing seventh (15-7) ... participated at the regional track meet as a freshman in the 4x100m relay and high jump (4-8) ... won the long jump title (17-4) at the 2023 Division 4 state track meet, and placed third in the high jump (5-2), along with running the anchor leg on the 4x100m relay ... claimed the 2024 Division 3 state title in the long jump (16-8.25), while also competing in the high jump and 4x100m relay ... served as as team captain as a junior ... received Academic Honor Roll recognition.

Personal:  Full name -- Sohanny Gonzalez-Castillo ... born on January 6, 2007, in Wyoming, Mich. ... daughter of Gregorio Gonzalez and Soranchi Castillo ... has an older brother, Gregory, and three sisters, Yesmincita, Nicole and Genesi ... plans to major in Radiology Technician.

Coach Nate Miller on Sohanny Gonzalez:  "A great addition to our jumps squad for next year will be Sohanny.  Right now, she is performing great in the long jump, but she could easily compete in the high jump and triple jump for us.  It was clear during her visit that we wanted her here at Wayne State as we look for great students and athletes."

Teagan Kimble, 5-9, Jumps, Mattawan, Mich. / Mattawan
High School:
 Will be a 2025 graduate of Mattawan High School ... will be a two-year track letterwinner for the Wildcats ... finished fourth in the high jump at the 2024 MHSAA Division 1 regional track meet at Portage Central with a jump of 4-10 ... also competed in the long jump at the regional meet ... set two personal-bests (5-1 in high jump and 15-8 in the long jump) at the 2024 MITCA State Meet at Zeeland East/West ... competing this winter for the 5GP Run Club ... is a member of the Academic Honor Roll.

Personal:  Full name -- Teagan J. Kimble ... born on September 15, 2007, in Kalamazoo ... daughter of Shane and Kara Kimble ... has a younger sister, Alyssa ... plans to major in Biology.

Coach Nate Miller on Teagan Kimble:  "I am excited to have Teagan join our squad next year.  I was able to work with Teagan at a track summer camp and could tell she was eager to learn more about high jump.  Teagan is a great student and during the recruiting process we knew she would be a good fit for the team."

Sophie Pell, 5-7, Jumps, Olivet, Mich. / Olivet
High School:
  Will be a 2025 graduate of Olivet High School ... will be a four-year track letterwinner for the Eagles and coaches Brian Lincoln and Alicia Pell ... earned All-League (Greater Lansing Activities Conference or Capital Area Activities Conference) honors 11 times ... competed at the MHSAA Division 2 regional track meet in the high jump (4-6), 100m hurdles and the 300m hurdles, along with the 4x400m relay as a freshman … placed ninth at the Division 3 state meet in 2023 in the high jump (5-0) … ran the second leg of the state champion 4x400m relay as a junior … competed in both hurdle events at the 2023 regional meet … finished fourth in the high jump at the 2024 Division 3 state track meet (5-4), while being a member of the state champion 4x200m relay and the runner-up 4x400m relay … set a personal-best of 5-6 in the high jump at the 2024 Lakewood Invitational ... also competed in volleyball ... served as a team captain in both sports as a senior ... received High (Academic) Honors four times.

Personal:  Full name -- Sophia E. Pell ... born on August 26, 2007, in Charlotte, Mich. ... daughter of Alicia Pell and Dal Pell ... mother competed on the track and field teams at Hillsdale ... has two younger sisters, Katherine and Alyssa ... plan to major in Journalism.

Coach Nate Miller on Sophie Pell:  "We are always looking for great students, great athletes, and especially great competitors and Sophie checks off all those boxes.  While working with her at summer camp, and seeing her accomplish All-State awards in four events, it was clear she was a tremendous competitor, and we are thrilled to have her join the team.  Sophie, along with Teagan, will be joining a young but very talented high jump squad."

Jaeda Tilton, 5-5, Throws, Chesterfield, Mich. / Anchor Bay
High School:
 Will be a 2025 graduate of Anchor Bay High School ... will be a four-year track letterwinner for coach Kendal Wilkinson ... participated in the MHSAA Division 1 Regional track meet as a freshman in the shot put, and the following two years in the discus ... set a personal-best in the shot put of 29-0 at the 2023 3rd Annual Friday Night Lights hosted by Algonac ... recorded a personal-best for the discus (100-1) at the 2024 Anchor Bay Invitational ... also competed in basketball ... served as a team captain in basketball ... earned All-Academic recognition ... received Honor Roll accolades all four years.

Personal:  Full name -- Jaeda L. Tilton ... born April 4, 2007, in Clinton Township, Mich. ... daughter of Melissa Tilton and Vincent Bradley ... has two younger brothers, Maison and Mateo, and two sisters, Turning and Jaylah ... plans to major in Nursing.

Coach Celine Freeman-Gibb on Jaeda Tilton:  "We are thrilled to have Jaeda joining our throws group in the fall from Anchor Bay High School.  She is a strong student-athlete with great focus and determination.  Jaeda will be a threat both in the classroom with an incoming GPA of 3.9 as well as in the discus circle.  She is looking forward to learning the ways of weight throw and hammer and we are looking forward to seeing her Rep the 313 proudly!
