DETROIT -- The 21st-ranked Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team came up just short against No. 14 Saginaw Valley State on Saturday afternoon inside the Matthaei, 129-114. Competing in 13 events overall, the Warriors stood atop the podium for five of them when it was all said and done.
"I thought that considering our pool situation this week, that the programs really fought so hard," said head coach
Sean Peters. "The women were really strong from start to finish, and I believe that they will continue to improve each and every meet. I could not ask for anything more from our men. They went up against a higher-ranked program, without our record-setting diver (
Julio Osuna), and with an opposing team that had numerous swims with tech suits, including both relays, and we were able to really compete and took it to the final length of the final leg of the final relay. I couldn't be more proud of this program, and I am extremely grateful for the spirit of our Warriors!"
