DETROIT -- Luis Klaus (Brühl, Germany) and
Harry Forsyth (Wamberal, New South Wales, Australia) of the Wayne State University men's tennis squad will travel to Mount Berry, Ga., for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup. The ITA Cup will be held at the Rome Tennis Center from Thursday, October 16, to Sunday, October 19.
LAST TIME OUT
The Green and Gold last competed at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, with individuals combining for a 20-10 record in singles competition, while totaling a 10-6 mark in doubles action. Sophomore
Benjamin Hill (Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) claimed the Singles B Draw title, going 6-0 on the weekend. In doubles, the pairing of Klaus and Forsyth battled through the A Draw, falling in the final match to a team from Grand Valley State. The WSU duo earned an at-large bid to the ITA Cup.
TOURNAMENT OUTLOOK
Kluas and Forsyth will compete against Soeren Grandke and Mathys Pinoit of Azusa Pacific University on Thursday, October 16, at 4:00 PM. The Wayne State pairing is one-of-two doubles teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), as GVSU's Patricio Sepulveda and Bora Bakici nabbed an automatic bid after triumphing at the ITA Midwest Regional.
