GLIAC -- Senior middle blocker
Kayla Giroux (Flat Rock, Mich.) and junior setter
Kayla Dulgar (Warsaw, Ohio / River View) of the Wayne State University volleyball team received GLIAC weekly honors on Monday as announced by the league office.
Giroux was named Offensive Player of the Week for the fifth time in her career while Dulgar also garnered Setter of the Week accolades for the fifth instance as a Warrior.
For the most recent honor, her second of the season, Giroux hit .324 with 31 kills and just nine errors on 68 total attacks. Of those 31 kills, 21 (two shy of career high) came in the 3-2 win at No. 18 Grand Valley State on Thursday night with a season-best 45 attempts and .356 hitting percentage. Then on Saturday in the victory at Purdue Northwest, Giroux notched 10 kills and four mishaps on 23 total attacks for a .261 hitting percentage.
Also for her second distinction of the fall, Dulgar racked up 82 assists, which is good for 10.25 per set. The junior passer also registered three service aces (all at PNW) and 15 total digs.
Giroux, Dulgar and their teammates will be back home for a pair of matches this week. WSU will host Parkside on Friday at 7 p.m. before welcoming in Roosevelt on Saturday for a 4 p.m. first serve.
