WSU Athletics has been selected to participate in the 2025 NCAA Impact Forum

DETROIT -- Four staff members and two student-athletes from the Wayne State University Department of Athletics will be in Indianapolis today through Wednesday for the 2025 NCAA Impact Forum.

The NCAA Impact Forum brings together leaders within higher education and intercollegiate athletics, including student-athletes, for transformational programming.  This professional development experience offers educational and engaging sessions centered around creating cultures of belonging and well-being.

Participants will gain practical information and tools related to community building and other learning strategies that they can take back to campus.  Attendees will also engage in sessions and dialogue focused on enhancing efforts to support all student-athletes and their unique experiences on campus.

>The Impact Forum will begin late afternoon on Nov. 10 and conclude in the early afternoon on Nov. 12.

In addition, WSU has been accepted into the Division II Enhanced Attendance Program.

Division II is providing fully funded opportunities for student-athletes, coaches, athletic administrators, and administrators outside of athletics from up to 26 institutions committed to creating cultures of belonging and well-being on their campuses.

Attendees for the Division II-Only Enhanced Attendance Program, serving as part of the implementation team, include:

 
  • Shelby Ripple (implementation team lead), WSU Athletic Department Assistant/Special Assistant to the Athletic Director
  • Eno Umoh, WSU Assistant Athletic Director/Compliance
  • Zack Belsky, WSU Associate Athletic Director/Marketing and Brand Strategy
  • Nikki Trammell, WSU Assistant Athletic Director/Mental Health and Wellness
  • Emmanuela Johnson, WSU women's track and field student-athlete
  • Devon Isaac, WSU football student-athlete
Student-athletes attending the Impact Forum will also participate in dedicated programming on Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 11) focused on leadership, well-being and creating inclusive environments across athletics and campus.

Additionally, Dr. Candice L. Turner (WSU Deputy Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator) has been accepted to the NCAA Impact Summit, a two-day professional development experience designed for athletics administrators focused on leadership, well-being, dialogue, and relationship-building.
