Drenth Named GLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

It is the first time this season and fifth time in his career that the senior has earned the honor.

DETROIT – Wayne State University men's tennis student-athlete Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany / Altkönigschule Kronberg) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's tennis player of the week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Drenth helped lift the Wayne State University men's tennis squad over the University of Indianapolis 4-3.  While competing in the No.1 doubles position, Drenth and his partner George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College) triumphed 7-6 over the Greyhounds top pairing of Mathieu Derache and David Simeonov.  In singles play, the senior claimed a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the No.1 spot as well while facing Simeonov.

Drenth and the rest of the WSU men's tennis team will be back in action on Friday, February 14.  The Warriors are set to compete against Case Western Reserve University and the University of Northwestern Ohio.
