Football Releases 2025 Schedule

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University football team, under the direction of third-year head coach Tyrone Wheatley, announced its 11-game schedule for the upcoming 2025 season.

For the second year in a row, WSU will open its slate against former GLIAC rival Tiffin.  This year's contest will have a 6 p.m. kickoff at Tom Adams Field on Thursday, Sept. 4.  The Warriors and Dragons have met 12 times before with WSU holding a 7-5 advantage.  The schools met eight times as GLIAC foes from 2008-2017 with Wayne State winning five of those affairs.  TU has won the last three meetings and five of the last six, including a 31-17 triumph in Tiffin last fall.

The following week, WSU will travel to Findlay to face the Oilers.  The schools have met 24 times before with the Oilers holding a slim 13-11 edge.  Until last year's match-up in Detroit, the previous 17 meetings were as GLIAC rivals with Warriors winning nine of those match-ups.  Wayne State last played in Flag City in 2016, when WSU posted a 37-21 triumph.

The week 3 contest has the Warriors traveling to Wisconsin-La Crosse.  The schools have met just once before with the Division 3 powerhouse Eagles recording a 28-21 win at Tom Adams Field in 2022.

WSU concludes the first month of the season and its non-conference slate with a home game vs. Quincy on September 27th.  The Warriors and the Hawks have met just once previously with Wayne State notching a 33-7 road win at Quincy in 2019.

The GLIAC schedule in 2025 is the same as 2024 with games being played at the opposite location.

WSU will entertain Michigan Tech for its annual Homecoming/Hall of Fame game on Saturday, October 4th at 1 p.m.  WSU has a 20-14 advantage in the all-time series, including 11 victories in 16 previous meetings in Detroit.

The October 11th game is in Big Rapids against Ferris State.  The Bulldogs have won the last 10 meetings, including last year's two-day affair (Oct. 12-13) to take a 34-22 lead in the all-time series.  Wayne State is 9-17 at Top Taggart Field.

The Davenport Panthers visit Tom Adams Field for a 1 p.m. kickoff on October 18th.  Davenport has taken a 4-3 lead in the all-time series thanks to three consecutive victories.  The Warriors are 0-2 all-time at home vs. DU.

Wayne State will play three of its final four games on the road starting with an October 25th trip to Saginaw Valley State.  The Cardinals have a 35-10-1 advantage in the all-time series.  WSU has a 5-16-1 mark at Harvey Randall Wickes Memorial Stadium, including four straight losses.

The Warriors Senior Day will take place on Saturday, November 1st when the Grand Valley State Lakers travel to Motown for a 1 p.m. kick-off.  The Lakers have won five straight in the series, since Wayne State earned a 31-17 triumph at Lubbers Stadium on Nov. 16, 2019.

WSU will make its first trip to Roosevelt for a November 8th tilt.  RU did not field a football team until its merger with Robert Morris (Ill.) in March of 2020.  In last year's inaugural match-up between the schools, the Warriors recorded a 38-14 win at Tom Adams Field.

Wayne State will complete the regular season with a trip to Marquette to face the Northern Michigan Wildcats.  WSU won last year's contest, 30-14, in Detroit.  The Warriors are 7-10 in games played at the Superior Dome.

Football season tickets for the 2025 campaign are on sale, while single-game tickets will be available starting with the spring game on Saturday, April 12.
