Drenth Named GLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

DETROIT -- Wayne State University men's tennis student-athlete Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany / Altkönigschule Kronberg) received GLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors for the third time this season, and seventh time of his career, as announced by the league office.

Drenth helped the Wayne State University men's tennis squad to a 5-2 victory over Ferris State University to close the regular season.  In his singles match, the senior nabbed a 7-5, 7-5 win in the No. 1 position and became WSU's all-time leader in singles matches won with 105.  In doubles competition, the WSU student-athlete, along with his partner Tom Wasner (Altenholz, Germany / Friedrichsort Community School), prevailed 6-2 over the duo from FSU.

Drenth, along with the entire WSU men's tennis team will compete on Saturday, April 26, in the second round of the GLIAC Tournament after receiving a first-round bye.  WSU will face the winner of the match between Ferris State University and Lake Superior State University.
