Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany / Altkönigschule Kronberg) was named GLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season and sixth time in his career, as announced by the league office.
The veteran continued his impressive senior campaign this past weekend, aiding the Wayne State men's tennis squad to a pair of road victories at Lake Superior State University and Michigan Tech University. The WSU student-athlete tallied two victories while competing in the No. 1 singles spot, posting a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 win against the Lakers and a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 triumph in the match with the Huskies. George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College), continued to shine in the No. 1 doubles position, collecting a 6-3 win over the LSSU pairing and a 6-4 triumph against the duo from MTU.
Drenth and the WSU men's tennis team will return to action on Friday, April 11, as the Green and Gold will compete at GLIAC newcomer Roosevelt University.
