WSU Student-Athletes Excel In The Classroom

DETROIT -- The student-athletes at Wayne State University continue to excel in the classroom.  Seventy-four (74) student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.00 term GPA with 79 percent of Warrior student-athletes receiving at least a 3.00 for the Winter 2025 semester.  The entire student-athlete population posted a 3.38 term GPA, with a cumulative GPA for all student-athletes at 3.451.  Over 81 percent of the student-athletes at the conclusion of the winter term have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, while nearly 53 percent have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.

Men's tennis led the way with a 3.834 term GPA as six of the eight team members had a semester GPA of 4.0.  Other teams that had a stellar semester were women's cross country (3.775), women's swimming/diving (3.758), baseball (3.707), women's golf (3.671), women's fencing (3.618), women's track and field (3.610), women's basketball (3.589), volleyball (3.588), softball (3.544), women's tennis (3.543), men's cross country (3.511), and men's basketball (3.469).  Thirteen (13) of the 17 teams had a term GPA of at least 3.46.

"Our student-athletes continue to show what it means to be Warriors, with excellence that extends well beyond competition," said WSU Director of Athletics Erika Wallace.  "These academic results are a direct reflection of their discipline, focus, and the incredible support from our coaches and academic services team.  We're proud of the standard they've set and the example they continue to be for our campus and community."
