Women's Outdoor Track Concludes Season At NCAA Championships

PUEBLO, Colo. -- The 2024-25 Wayne State University athletic season came to an end Thursday evening as a pair of track standouts competed at the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held at the Thunderbowl.

QUOTING COACH LOFDAHL
"It is a major accomplishment to qualify for the NCAA championships, especially when you look how much more difficult it's become in the past few seasons.  Both Reagan and Keneisha worked very hard to get to this point, and had the added challenge of competing at high altitude for the first time in their careers.

"For Keneisha, it was a great learning experience in getting to see what an NCAA meet looks like and competing with the best athletes in D2.  This was not her best race of the season, but she was still well under the pre-2025 Wayne State record for the 400 hurdles.  She will take what she learned and come back even stronger next year.

"Reagan worked for four years to qualify for nationals on the track, and this was the perfect place for her to finish her Warrior career.  The effects of the altitude were noticeable in the 10K, and it affected some of the runners more than others.  She hung in there when the pace picked up, and was able to pick off a few people and exceed her seed of 22nd with a 19th-place finish.  She is certainly the most accomplished cross country and distance runner in WSU history to this point, and it's hard to overstate the positive impact she's had on the program, in every conceivable way.

"We did not hit our high-end goals in Pueblo, but it is still excellent to have two top-20 NCAA finishers.  Our coaching staff and team are very proud of Keneisha and Reagan."

Redshirt sophomore Keneisha Thomas (Madison Heights, Mich. / Lamphere) placed 20th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.39.

In the last women's event on the opening day of the championships, senior Reagan Justice (Canton, Mich. / Salem) finished 19th in the 10,000m run by clocking in at 37:08.13.  It was the final event in her illustrious Warrior career.

All 22 qualifiers competed in one heat of the 10K race.  Justice was 15th after the first 400m, and moved up to 14th after 800m.  She dropped four places to 18th after 1600m, then fell another two spots to 20th after 2K.  Justice was 21st after 2,800m and stayed in that position or 20th through the 6,800m mark when she moved up a spot to 19th.  She maintained that spot over the final 3,200m.  In fact, her last 400m was 1:24.24, her third fastest 400m split of the race.
