Belsky Selected Designer of the Year; WSU Marketing Wins Five NACMA Awards

DETROIT -- Zack Belsky, Associate Athletic Director/Marketing and Brand Strategy for the Wayne State University Department of Athletics, was recognized as the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Creative and Digital Design contest Designer of the Year.

In addition, WSU's Athletic Department earned five NACMA (National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators) awards, including two gold for Group III (Non-Division 1).

Wayne State received Gold in both the Fundraising Campaign (Home Run Derby) and the Digital Media Engagement (Black History Month).

The two Silver were garnered in Affinity Group Marketing (Football program's bowling fundraiser) and the Sponsorship Campaign (Warrior Village).

The Bronze was awarded for the Branded Dynamic Collateral (Basketball Hype Video).

Fundraising Campaign - Campaign put together to help fundraise for your school and how you used marketing tools to drive fundraising success.  Increase in giving and/or increase in membership are important outcomes; clear goal for the campaign; quantifiable results of the campaign; creativity; and consistency in messaging across platforms.

Digital Media Engagement - A campaign, activation or on-going strategy that cuts through the clutter of all the apps and social media accounts to make your brand stand out and engage with fans.  Description of the goal and if it was reached; definition of target audience; specific campaigns that were executed to launch a new app/account or drive increased engagement; new revenue results.

Affinity Group Marketing - How your marketing team works with young alumni groups, alumni associations, youth programs, community organizations, etc. and how you found new fans through the process.  Description of target group; description of the goal and end result; partnerships that were leveraged in an effort to reach your goal; location of activation/marketing efforts (on-campus, community, athletic venues, etc.).

Sponsorship Campaign - The successful activation of a sponsorship/partnership asset(s) that resulted in new revenue.  Single event or season-long campaign; explanation of initial goal/objective and end result; description of target group; details of the partnership to execute the campaign; quantifiable results; creativity and originality.

Branded Dynamic Collateral - Displays your brand and/or promotional efforts including in-venue video, a digital video segment, a dynamic feature, etc.  Design fits your brand standards and there is a consistent theme throughout; intentionality on engagement; creativity - original content, has a WOW factor; and content - clearly displays your brand identity.
