Men's Tennis Claims Warrior Plate Award For 2024-25

DETROIT -- During the annual Wayne State University Department of Athletics fall kickoff meeting earlier today, the men's tennis program was awarded the Warrior Plate for being the sports team that best combined academic achievement, community service and competitive success.

This is the fourth time in the last nine years, the men's tennis team has won or shared the Warrior Plate.

The men's tennis squad had the top team GPA in the fall (3.795) and winter (3.834) semesters, and ranked second in the department in community service hours per student athlete behind women's basketball.

In addition, the men's tennis program advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.

Men's tennis totaled 1,345 points to out-pace women's cross country finished with 1,307.5 points.  Women's basketball placed third (1,235) and was followed by women's track and field (1,195), women's swimming/diving (1,077.5), women's tennis (1,060) and volleyball (1,050).  Rounding out the top 10 were women's golf (925), baseball (915) and softball (865).
