Women's Cross Country Places Second at Warrior Challenge

NEW BOSTON, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's cross country squad claimed a runner-up finish at the 2025 Warrior Challenge at Willow Metropark on Friday, September 12, earning 45 points. The University of Findlay triumphed with 37 points.

Ava Peters (Livonia, Mich. / Franklin) was the squad's top performer, as the freshman nabbed a second-place finish with a time of 22:33.00. The next member of the Green and Gold to cross the finish line was Anna Gdowski (Northville, Mich.) at the 22:56.70 mark. Aubrey Migoski (Wyandotte, Mich. / Roosevelt) and Robin Bresolin (LaSalle, Ont. / St. Thomas of Villanova) were the next Wayne State runners to complete the race, finishing 11th and 12th with times of 23:09.30 and 23:09.40, respectively. Emilee Rudlaff (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Central) was the fifth Wayne State student-athlete to conclude the meet with a time of 23:19.90, which was good enough for a 14th-place finish.

"Ava (Peters) is having a very impressive start to her collegiate career, and her time of 22:33 tied the Willow Metropark debut of recently graduated WSU all-American Reagan Justice when she was a freshman. Ava raced like an experience veteran today, as did Anna Gdowski who is only a redshirt sophomore. Anna and Emilee Rudlaff made the difference between us being third or second, as they both passed several runners in the last kilometer to help us edge out SVSU. Our depth was exceptional today, with big breakthrough races from Ella Showerman, Meagan Verellen, and Reese Hansen among others."

"We had a few struggles on the course, but certainly a lot more good in this race than bad. The amount of Warrior fan support was off the charts, and our team greatly appreciates all of the support out there!"

The WSU women's cross country squad will next be in action in two weeks (Saturday, September 27) at the Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
