Women's Cross Country Finishes 12th at Lucian Rosa Invite

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Wayne State University women's cross country team placed 12th in a field of 23 squads during the University of Wisconsin-Parkside's Lucian Rosa Invite Championship 6K, tallying 342 points. WSU was represented in the Open 6K as well, claiming first with a total of 45 points.

Colorado School of Mines triumphed in the Championship 6K, posting 51 points.

"The ladies performed pretty well today, overall. It wasn't perfect, but it was a solid team effort."

"Ava (Peters) ran a composed, gutsy race, and she has been extremely impressive as a true freshman so far this season. Emilee (Rudlaff) took a chance and went out fast, and really had a breakthrough as she held on for an excellent race. Taylor (Hopkins) had a solid bounce-back from injury on a difficult course, and I was impressed with Ella (Showerman) and Meagan's (Verellen) races as well. Our Open Race squad did a phenomenal job and got the win, led by true freshmen Kendall Sears and Reese Hansen."

"We earned some wins over out-of-region teams, but most importantly we got big-race experience on the regional and NCAA Championship course. That will pay off, hopefully in a big way, in November."
