Baseball Program Signs Three Transfer Pitchers

DETROIT -- Ryan Kelley, who began his 18th season as the baseball head coach at Wayne State University last month, has announced the signing of three transfer pitchers.  The trio includes RHP Will Lowery (Grosse Ile, Mich. [Kalamazoo Valley C.C.]), LHP Philip Miller (Flat Rock, Mich. / Woodhaven [Schoolcraft C.C. / Tusculum]) and RHP Jack Saputo (Windsor, Ont. / St. Anne Catholic [Macomb C.C.]).

2025:  Helped Kalamazoo Valley Community College to 57 wins in his two seasons, most in program history ... KVCC had a 24-20 mark ... recorded a 4.79 ERA in 47.0 innings with 39 strikeouts ... compiled a 6-4 mark in 13 appearances.

2024:  Made 14 appearances on the mound for the KVCC Cougars compiling a 2-2 mark in four starts ... tossed one complete game and compiled a 4.47 ERA in 46.1 innings with 55 strikeouts ... KVCC went 33-16 and advanced to the Region XII Division II Baseball Championship.

2023:  Redshirted at Henry Ford Community College.

High School:  A 2022 graduate of Grosse Ile High School ... was a three-year letterwinner for coach Mario Garza ... was a member of the 2022 state semifinalist squad ... helped GIHS to both district and regional titles ... also saw action at first base ... received All-Huron League, All-District and All-Downriver News Herald accolades ... tossed a no-hitter against Flat Rock ... went 3-for-5 in the 15-11 2022 state quarterfinal win over Dearborn Divine Child ... drove in GIHS lone run in the state semifinal setback to Grand Rapids Christian ... served as a baseball team captain as a senior ... also earned two letters in soccer ... won two MHSAA state titles in soccer ... garnered Academic All-Huron League recognition.

2025:  Started all 13 games pitched for Tusculum ... compiled a 2-6 record with a 5.76 ERA in 59.1 innings with 49 strikeouts ... selected SAC (South Atlantic Conference) Pitcher of the Week on March 26 after tossing seven shutout innings and allowing just three hits with a season-high eight strikeouts in a win over Mars Hill ... matched a season-best with eight strikeouts in five innings in a win over Emory and Henry ... earned a victory over Limestone by allowing one run in six innings on five hits 

2024:  Made 13 appearances on the mound for Schoolcraft Community College, starting 11 times ... compiled a 4-4 record with a 4.66 ERA in 63.2 innings ... struck out 66 batters ... notched first victory of the season by limiting #15-Erie C.C. to one run in seven innings with seven strikeouts ... held SC4 to one earned run in six innings with a season-high 10 strikeouts to garner second win of the campaign ... tossed six scoreless innings in a win over Henry Ford C.C. ... earned a win in relief against Mott C.C. with three perfect innings in a 7-2 triumph.

2023:  Appeared in 10 games for the Schoolcraft Ocelots, making five starts ... compiled a 3-2 record with a 7.07 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 35.2 innings ... recorded first collegiate victory with 3.1 scoreless innings vs. SC4 ... also notched wins against Mott C.C. and Jackson C.C. ... selected MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week (May 3rd) for his performance against first place JCC (allowed two earned runs on four hits in six innings with six strikeouts).

High School:  A 2022 graduate of Woodhaven High School ... was a two-year letterwinner for coach Corey Farner ... pitched and played first base for the Warriors ... best pitching performance was 15 strikeouts in six innings ... selected to the All-Downriver League Team ... received All-Academic recognition ... played summer ball for the Lincoln Park Rails and coach Jake Pacholski.

2025:  Made 12 relief appearances for Macomb Community College totaling 28.1 innings ... allowed just three runs (one earned) for a 0.32 ERA ... struck out 41 batters to just four walks, and limited opposing hitters to a .124 average with zero extra-base hits allowed ... compiled a 3-1 record with six saves ... totaled 10 scoreless appearances ... struck out a season-high six batters in three innings vs. Schoolcraft (March 29) ... did not allow a run over his final 12 innings ... selected to the NJCAA Division II All-Region XII Team, the All-MCCAA Team, and First Team All-MCCAA Eastern Conference.

2024:  Appeared in 12 contests for the Monarchs of Macomb Community College, all in relief ... surrendered 13 earned runs (16 total) in 15.0 innings for a 7.80 ERA ... struck out 20 batters to just seven walks, while totaling four saves and a 2-4 record ... struck out a season-high three batters in just one inning vs. South Carolina Lancaster in MCC debut on March 2 ... had eight appearances in which he did not allow an earned run.

High School:  A 2022 graduate of St. Anne Catholic High School in Belle River, Ont. ... was a two-year letterwinner for the Saints ... received Academic honors ... played summer ball for the Windsor Selects and coaches Chad Matton and Ryley Vernon.
