Basketball Bonfire Set to Tip Off Wayne State Basketball Season

DETROIT -- Join the Wayne State University Department of Athletics and the Warrior men's and women's basketball teams on Thursday, October 29, from 7-10 PM for the Basketball Bonfire!  Doors open at 6 PM at the Fieldhouse, and admission is FREE.

The first 500 attendees will receive an exclusive basketball season schedule T-shirt, compliments of Born in Detroit, while the first 300 attendees will receive complimentary Chick-fil-A sandwiches, compliments of Chick-fil-A Roseville.

The night will tip off with the Basketball Skills Competition, where members of the men's and women's basketball teams will team up with Wayne State students for a series of challenges designed to bring out their competitive sides.  Competitions will include the Team Shooting Relay, Three-Point Shootout, Dunk Contest, Knockout Challenge, Half-Court Shot Challenge and a Halloween-themed Costume Contest.

And there's plenty on the line!  Competition winners will have the chance to take home $100 gas gift cards, sponsored by Boost Mobile; gift baskets, sponsored by Dunkin' and the OM Group; and even Chick-fil-A for a year, sponsored by Chick-fil-A Roseville.

With DJ Hi Def Stef keeping the energy going throughout the night, the fun will continue throughout the evening with something to enjoy both inside and outside the Fieldhouse.  Attendees can browse a variety of vendors and food trucks located throughout the event.

Outside on the faux basketball court, students can embrace the fall season around the firepits with friends while grabbing a cup of hot cocoa and making their own s'mores at the s'mores and hot cocoa bar, sponsored by Awake Cafe.

Whether you're coming to compete, cheer on the Warriors, grab some food, shop local vendors or simply enjoy a night on campus, the Basketball Bonfire is the perfect way to celebrate the start of another season of Wayne State basketball.
