DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's and women's fencing teams will compete at the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) Championships on Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22, at Denison University's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
The team portion of the event will be held on Saturday, with the individual competition taking place on Sunday.
At last season's conference championships, the WSU men's squad finished second overall, with the epee team (second place), foil team (third place), and sabre team (third place) all earning trophies. The women's epee team earned a second-place finish after tallying five bout wins. Â
The men's fencing team will have 17 student-athletes competing across the three weapons, while the women's squad will have eight participants.
