DETROIT -- Multiple members of the Wayne State University men's fencing team competed at the annual Danosi Open in the Matthaei Center on Saturday.
Due to it being an open event, there are no team scores and each fencer competed as an individual.
In men's epee, freshman
Justin Chenh (Falls Church, Va.), senior
Shuayb Dinkins (Kissimmee, Fla. / Lincoln Park / Celebration), senior
Bryce Heim (Oconomowoc, Wis.), and senior
Cameron King (Laurel, Md. / DeMatha Catholic) all saw action.
Heim finished ast the runner-up, while Dinkins tied-for-third. The two met in the semifinals, with Heim notching a 15-14 nailbiting victory.

Eyad Marouf (Alexandria, Egypt / European International School of Alexandria) triumphed 15-8 over freshman
Gabriel Dumoulin (Newtown, Conn.) in the finals bout, while freshman
Connor Desautels (Redding, Conn. / Joel Barlow) finished tied-for-third.

Wayne State will travel to Granville, Ohio, for the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) Championships on Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22. This year's league championship will be held at Denison University in the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
