Women's Track and Field Completed Regular-Season At Hillsdale Tune-Up

EDITOR'S NOTE -- After the story below was posted graduate student Emily Gordon ran the 1,500m race at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet on Saturday evening and posted the second-fastest 1,500m time in program history with a 4:30.99. Her time trails only Brittany Johnson's mark of 4:30.53 set at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor National Championships.

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's outdoor track and field team competed its final pre-GLIAC Championships event this weekend at the Hillsdale Tune-Up. The hammer was the only event contested on Friday that Warriors participated in with all other events taking place on Saturday.

WSU had three individual event winners - Katie Rohrer (1,500m) and Megan Zahnow (100m hurdles), while Ava Steinhebel tied for first in the high jump. The 4x100m relay was also victorious. Placing second were Sasha-Gay Thompson (100m dash), Reese Hansen (1,500m), Emilee Rudlaff (5K) and Keneisha Thomas (100m hurdles), while Nicole Warren tied-for-second in the long jump.

The 2026 GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will begin on Wednesday with the Heptathlon (100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m dash). Thursday (April 30) events include Heptathlon (long jump, javelin, 800m run), along with prelims of the 1,500m run, 100m hurdles, 400m dash, 100m dash, 800m run, 400m hurdles, 200m dash, and the finals of the steeplechase, 10K, javelin, hammer and long jump.
