10 Volleyball Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-GLIAC Recognition

Over the last 10 years, 119 Warrior volleyball student-athletes have earned GLIAC All-Academic honors.

DETROIT -- Ten (10) members of the 2025 Wayne State University volleyball squad were recognized with GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) All-Academic accolades.  Over the last 10 years, 119 Warrior volleyball student-athletes have earned GLIAC All-Academic honors.

Criteria states that student-athlete must be an active member on their respective sport roster at the end of the season, and not a true freshman or a first-year transfer student.

The six student-athletes receiving All-Academic Excellence Team honors for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 were junior Kayla Dulgar (Warsaw, Ohio / River View), redshirt sophomore Aubree Garcia (Mount Pleasant, Mich.), senior Kayla Giroux (Flat Rock, Mich.), sophomore Saige Martin (Westphalia, Mich. / Pewamo-Westphalia), junior Katie Smith (Macomb, Mich. / Utica Eisenhower), and sophomore Kyleigh Weck (Hersey, Mich. / Reed City).

Giroux (Global Supply Chain Management - 3.99) garnered her third honor, while Dulgar (Psychology - 3.91), Garcia (Philosophy - 3.98), and Smith (Global Supply Chain Management - 3.76) all were members for a second consecutive season.  Meanwhile, Martin (Psychology - 4.00) and Weck (Exercise & Sport Science - 3.78) were featured for the first time in their first seasons eligible.

WSU's four representatives on the All-Academic Team for having a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 were senior Kendyl Andrews (Flushing, Mich.), redshirt senior Leigha Baldwin (Perrysburg, Ohio / [Purdue Fort Wayne]), sophomore Nicole Dupre (Lake Mary, Fla. / Seminole), and junior Maya Wegand (Kaukauna, Wis. / Little Chute).

Appearing for the third time were both Andrews (Exercise & Sport Science - 3.22) and Baldwin (Marketing - 3.31).  Wegand (Nursing - 3.49) collected her second straight honor after being eligible for the first time last season, while Dupre (Nursing - 3.36) made the cut in her first season eligible.

The volleyball team recorded a cumulative 3.687 GPA for the Winter 2026 semester, with five Warriors achieving a perfect 4.0 term GPA.  Thirteen (13) student-athletes were included on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for a term GPA of 3.5 or better.
