DETROIT -- Three members of the 2025 Wayne State University men's cross country squad were recognized this afternoon with Academic All-District honors by College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA).
Getting some attention for their work both on the course and in the classroom were junior
Glen Davis (Burtchville, Mich. / Port Huron Northern [SC4/Spring Arbor]), sophomore
Sean Pettis (Fremont, Mich.) and junior
Jared Platt (White Lake, Mich. / White Lake Lakeland) were named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) on Tuesday afternoon.
Maintaining a 3.90 cumulative GPA in Management,
Davis was a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honoree by having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and a finish in the top 30 percent at the regional championship on Nov. 8. There, he placed 29th (31:33.9) after finishing in 14th at the GLIAC Championships on Oct. 25 with a time of 24:48.8 for Second Team All-GLIAC honors. The first-year Warrior's three other performances for the season included first at the Warrior Challenge on Sept. 12 (25:08.4), second at his Green and Gold debut, the Hillsdale Open on Sept. 5 (20:23.1) and 38th at Parkside's Lucian Rosa Invitational on Sept. 27 (25:35.5).
Pettis, already a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete, maintains a perfect cumulative GPA of 4.00 in Information Technology. Recognized as WSU's Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Year in 2024, placed 18th at the GLIAC Championships (25:00.1) for Second Team All-GLIAC recognition before finishing 37th at the NCAA Midwest Regional (31:47.8). Named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team in his first season eligible, Pettis' three other performances as a sophomore included fifth at the Warrior Challenge (25:44.7), seventh at the Hillsdale Open (20:50.9) and 57th at Parkside's Lucian Rosa Invitational (25:55.2).
Platt, the most experienced Warrior of the above trio and two-time GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team honoree, carries a 3.75 cumulative GPA in Exercise and Sport Science. A 2024-25 recipient of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, he was named Second Team All-GLIAC after placing 20th at the GLIAC Championships (25:04.80). He then continued his postseason with All-Region recognition for a 21st-place performance at the NCAA Midwest Regional (31:25.40). Because of that, he became a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete by having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and a finish in the top 30 percent at the regional championship. Platt's three other finishes for the season included fourth at the Hillsdale Open (20:29.6), sixth at the Warrior Challenge (25:47.6) and 39th at Parkside's Lucian Rosa Invitational (25:35.9).
