Hendra Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

DETROIT -- Wayne State University Athletic Department's Dr. Lisa Erickson, who serves as Associate Athletic Director/Head Athletic Trainer, has announced the addition of Dr. Brianna Hendra as an assistant athletic trainer.

"We are excited to bring Brianna on board as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, to help oversee the healthcare of our football and fencing student-athletes," stated Erickson.  "Brianna's 10+ years of experience in sports medicine makes her an invaluable addition to our department.  She understands the unique physical and mental adaptations incoming student-athletes face, making her a perfect fit to guide our freshmen and veterans alike."

Hendra earned a bachelor's degree in Science - Athletic Training from the University of Michigan in 2014, a master's degree in Pyschology in 2018 from California Southern University, and a doctorate degree in Athletic Training from Moravian University in 2023. 

Currently, she is in the process of completing a master's degree in Sports Psychology from Moravian University. 

Hendra previously spent two years as an Athletic Trainer for Wayne-Westland Community Schools and nine years as an Athletic Trainer for Corewell Health.  She additionally spent time at Mercy Health in Toledo, Ohio, working as an Athletic Trainer for 18 months.

A native of Santa Clarita, Calif., Hendra currently resides in Novi, Mich., with her husband Andrew.
