WSU Athletics Turner To Present at 2026 DCAN Conference

DETROIT -- Wayne State University Deputy Athletic Director Dr. Candice L. Turner has been selected to be a presenter at the 2026 Detroit College Access Network (DCAN) Conference on October 21 at her Ph.D. Alma mater, Eastern Michigan University.

Turner's presentation features "Ready for College. Ready for Students?"  The session focuses on shifting the college-success conversation from simply asking whether students are prepared for college to examining whether institutions are truly prepared to support the students that we enroll.

She will explore what it means to build student-ready institutions through intentional systems of belonging, support, access, and shared responsibility for student success and engagement.

"I'm excited about the opportunity, particularly because the presentation aligns closely with the broader student-success and engagement work I'm exploring through my ALA (Academic Leadership Academy) experience."

The conference will take place on Wednesday, October 21 at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center in Ypsilanti.
