WSU Football - 2026 Wide Receivers

DETROIT -- As we near the start of the season, we will continue previewing each position on the 2026 Wayne State University football team with each position coach highlighting their respective units. This segment is the wide receivers preview with coach Miguel Quintanilla.

The wide receiver unit has 11 returnees, including five who lettered a season ago. The returnees include redshirt junior Jordan Bell (Benton Harbor, Mich. / St. Joseph) and a quartet of redshirt sophomores - Drew Hickmott (Ortonville, Mich. / Ortonville Brandon [Michigan]), Donovan Isaac (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Waterford Mott), Kristian Kilpatrick (Fenton, Mich.) and Raymond Payne (Pontiac, Mich. / Lake Orion).

Bell had 90 yards receiving last season, including a touchdown catch at Wisconsin-La Crosse. Hickmott had at least one catch in all 11 games in 2025, and tied-for-second on the squad in receptions (26) and was second in receiving yards (298), while leading the team in touchdown catches (3). Isaac played in all 11 contests a season ago, and has eight career receptions for 77 yards with two touchdowns. Kilpatrick has played in 13 career games and has 284 all-purpose yards (268 on kickoff return and 16 receiving), while Payne has appeared in 13 career games with two receptions for 24 yards.

Five redshirt freshmen are looking for increased playing time in 2026. This group includes Malachi Evans (Flint, Mich. / Grand Blanc), Matthew Evans (Flint, Mich. / Grand Blanc), Karter Freeman (Tomball, Texas / Klein Oak), Joseph Lattimore (Linden, Mich.), and Bishop Thomas (Mount Clemens, Mich.).

Matthew Evans made one appearance in 2025 as a back-up cornerback against Grand Valley State, while Malachi Evans, Freeman and Lattimore did not see any playing time in 2025. In three games in 2025, Thomas has two receptions for 17 yards and a touchdown.

The other returnees are redshirt junior Mar'Tavion Robinson (Lansing, Mich. / Waverly [Davenport]) and senior Michael Jenkins, Jr. Robinson played as a back-up wide receiver in the first two games of 2025 and had two kickoff returns at Findlay for 42 yards. He missed the final nine games of the season due to an injury. Jenkins did not dress for any games in 2025.

Incoming transfers at wide receiver include Jahmari Cooper (Pontiac, Mich. / Lake Orion [Siena Heights]), Trent Davis (Waynesville, Ohio [Ohio Dominican]), TJ Gregory (Englewood, Ohio / Dayton Northmont [West Virginia State]), and junior Lance-Matua Kellum (Bacliff, Texas / Dickinson [RCTC]).

A trio of freshmen recruits include Jaden McDonald (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Detroit Central), James Milanovich (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard), and Jerrel Moore (Pearland, Texas / St. Pius X). Newcomer Davin Adams (Harper Woods, Mich. / Chandler Park Academy [Lead Prep Academy]) will most likely redshirt this year.
