NORTHVILLE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's cross country team finished second at the Tommy T vs. W The Warrior Classic on Saturday morning. WSU scored 45 points to finish behind co-host Detroit Mercy (27 points), but ahead of Spring Arbor, Titan Legends, Macomb Community College, and Michigan-Dearborn.
The Warriors placed five runners in the top 14, with
Sean Pettis (Fremont, Mich.) leading the way with a fourth-place finish (20:38.0).

"We were a bit shorthanded today on the men's side, but credit Coach Murray and UDM, they're a very good team and they took it to us. Sean competed well up front, and this was a nice rust-buster for him. Griffin has put in a lot of miles on the Cass Benton course between high school races and summer training, and he looked strong on it today. Andrew continues to make steady progress, I'm excited to see what he'll do this fall. Eli and Landen were excellent in their first collegiate race, and it was awesome to have
Seth Pianga back in the mix after dealing with injuries for the past two seasons. It will be a work in progress, but the guys are putting in a lot of miles and hard work. With GLIACs and regioinals still around two months away, we will keep grinding and I think this team will be very competitive come championship season."
