Men's Tennis Wins Warrior Plate For 2025-26

DETROIT -- During the annual Wayne State University Department of Athletics Student-Athlete Welcome Back event on Sunday, the men's tennis program was awarded the Warrior Plate for being the sports team that best combined academic achievement, community service and competitive success during the 2025-26 academic year.

This is the fifth time in the last 10 years, the men's tennis program has won or shared the Warrior Plate.

The men's tennis squad had the top team GPA in the fall (3.778) and winter (3.868) semesters, and ranked first in the department in community service hours per student athlete.

In addition, the men's tennis program advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season.

Men's tennis totaled 1,425 points to out-pace women's fencing, who finished second with 1,305 points.  Women's Track and Field finished third with 1,250 points and was followed by women's basketball (1,205), volleyball (1,170), women's swimming and diving (1,147.5), softball (1,145) and women's cross country (1,130).  Rounding out the top 10 were baseball (930) and men's cross country (905).
