Graduate assistant coach Jessica King is in her third season on the Warriors' bench after three seasons on the court.
King ranks first in career blocks (82), three pointers (162) and three point attempts (503) from her three seasons at Wayne State. She set a single game record with seven blocked shots against Rochester College (Jan. 30, 2003). In 2003, King was named to the Second Team GLIAC South squad and was a member of the GLIAC All Tournament team. Over her last two seasons, King started every game for the Warriors (56 straight).
Prior to Wayne State King played one season at Oakland University. She graduated from Howell High School and was named team MVP as a sophomore, junior and senior. While at HHS, King received the National Penn and Quill Award her sophomore year of high school for writing a nationally recognized article about her 1996 Class A State Runner-up basketball team.
King earned her bachelor's degree in journalism in December 2003. She is currently working toward her master's in sports administration.
2002-03: Named to the GLIAC South second team ... member of the six-player GLIAC all-tournament team ... only player to start every game over the past two seasons (56 straight) ... scored in double figures 19 times ... poured in career-high 30 points vs. Ashland (Jan. 23) ... selected as GLIAC South Player of the Week on Jan. 20 ... broke Wayne State record with seven blocks versus Rochester College on Jan. 30 ... recorded first career double-double with 21 points and a season-high 12 at Findlay (Feb. 13) ... third in GLIAC in blocks ... sixth in league in three's per game ... scored her 1,000th career point at NCAA Regional at Indianapolis ... played all 40 minutes against UCCS (Dec. 6) and Central State (Jan. 28).
2001-02: Started every game in 2001-02 ... broke the WSU record for most three-pointers in a season with 68 ... second on team in scoring 12.3 points per game ... fifth in rebound at 4.3 rpg ... team leader in blocks (25) ... scored a career-high 27 points at Mercyhurst (2-7-02) ... scored in double figures 21 times, second best on the team ... leading scorer eight times ... three times led team in rebounding.
2000-2001: Played in 25 games, starting 20 contests ... ranked third on the team in scoring (10.3), fifth in rebounds (4.5), second in blocks (17) and second in steals (48) ... led the Warriors in scoring four times and in steals seven times ... scored in double-figures 15 times ... had a career-high 20 points vs. Northern Michigan (1/6/01) ... recorded 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocks against Mercyhurst (2/1/01) ... posted an 18-point performance at Rollins College (12/28/00).
1999-2000 (Oakland University): Saw limited time in 20 games with Oakland University, totaling 105 minutes ... averaged 1.6 points per game ... recorded 32 total points and 15 rebounds
High School: Played for Lee Piepho at Howell High School ... was named fifth team All-State, All-City, All-Conference and team MVP as a sophomore, junior and senior ... named team captain her junior and senior year ... also participated in track & field where she qualifyed for the State finals in the 200 meters ... was undefeated as a sprinter in the conference ... received the National Pen and Quill Award her sophomore year for writing a nationally recognized article about her 1996 Class A State Runner-up basketball team.
