Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (https://www.gliac.org)Â Â
Wayne State University has been a proud member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Where Champions Compete, since 1975 – just three years after the conference was founded in 1972. The Mission Statement of the GLIAC is as follows: The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is an association of institutions of higher education devoted to the NCAA Division II ideals which promote Life in the Balance of student-athletes while ensuring academic and athletics excellence. As of 2025, there are 11 members of the GLIAC. The full list of GLIAC member institutions can be found on the GLIAC website.Â
Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (https://centralcollegiatefencing.com)Â Â
Wayne State’s men’s and women’s fencing programs compete in the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CFCC). The CFCC is a multi-divisional conference with member institutions from all three NCAA Divisions, which can be found on the CCFC website. WSU’s fencing program and student-athletes conform to eligibility standards and requirements of NCAA Division II.Â
Reporting Violations:
WSU student-athletes shall understand, respect and support the University’s commitment to abiding by the rules, standards, and obligations set forth by the governing bodies of which we are members. As a student-athlete, you are responsible for consulting WSU’s Department of Athletics before participating in an action that could result in a rules violation. Likewise, it is an obligation of participation to immediately report all incidents of questionable activity (violations and potential violations), no matter how minor they may appear to be, to the Department of Athletics by emailing kelsey.voss@wayne.edu. Failure to adhere to legislation and/or to report potential violations could result in team forfeiture, loss of eligibility, or dismissal.Â
