Redshirt senior Ziad Elsissy (Alexandria, Egypt) went 7-4 on day two of the NCAA Championships to improve his overall record to 19-6 and finish as the national runner-up and earn First Team All-American honors for the second consecutive season.  He fell to Harvard's Eli Dershwitz, 15-14, for the second consecutive season.  The 2016 U.S. Olympian, Dershwitz was ranked the No. 1 sabreist in the United States on Feb. 26, 2018, by USA Fencing.

He becomes an All-American for the third time in his career.  He was the national runner-up last season and finished seventh in 2015.  In 2017, Elsissy was the first Warrior to compete in a gold medal bout since former three-time national champion Slava Zingerman claimed his third consecutive national title in the men's epee in 2009.
