The Wayne State women's tennis team defeated Findlay 7-2 on Wednesday for its second win in three days. The Warriors (5-1, 4-1 GLIAC) are currently in the middle of a six day, four match stretch of conference games.
In the third doubles match,
Jennifer Bradford and
Debora Correa were able to pick up their fourth win of the year by besting Findlay's Kari Rudduck and Kelsey Yoder 8-1.
Gill beat Gina Solis 6-0, 6-0 in number one singles to earn the 52nd singles win of her career. The Windsor, Ontario native is now just 11 wins shy of passing
Dee Mays for the most wins in Wayne State history.
In one of the closest matches of the day, Goranskaya was able to hold on and defeat Haley Dudon 6-3, 7-5.
The always reliable Correa and Bradford notched 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 wins in fifth and sixth singles to give Wayne State its sixth and seventh points of the match.
Findlay (2-5, 2-3 GLIAC) was victorious in third and fourth singles as Candace Pahl bested Vuksanovic 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 and Kelsey Yoder beat Monte 6-1, 6-4.
Wayne State will travel to Grand Valley State on Friday to take on the undefeated Lakers (3-0, 2-0 GLIAC) in a match between the number two and three teams in the GLIAC standings. Play is slated to start at 3:00 p.m.
