ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Wayne State University men's swimming team defeated Lewis University,
179-134, in a two-day GLIAC dual meet.
Wayne State clinched the win after four events Saturday, beginning with a one-two performance in the 400 medley relay.
Jimmy Lee,
Joaquin Abascal Gallegos,
Kevin Galerneau, and
Andrey Seryy won with a time of 3:31.42. The foursome of
Nathan Hesche,
Matt Victor,
Matthew Laschuk and
Cameron Fryzel finished second (3:38.96).
In the 1650 freestyle,
Oskar Nordstrand placed third (16:10.40) and achieved an NCAA “B” cut.
Laschuk and
Calvin Reder finished first (52.90) and second (54.16), respectively, in the 100 butterfly, and Seryy won the 50 freestyle (20.42).
Over the two-day meet, the Warriors set a total of seven Lewis University pool recods.
Wayne State has two upcoming home events, a dual meet Jan. 28 against Findlay and a diving invitational the following day.
